With a theme like "Refresh, Revive, Renew", it's not surprising that this year's Cape Town Fashion Week is bursting with the hottest Spring/Summer ready-to-wear fashion for 2010.

With spring on its way, it's never to early to start preparing for the beach! We spoke to Durban-based swimwear designer Dax Martin about his new collection of swimwear, and how to rock the 2010 swimwear trends - regardless of your body shape or size!

Dax's Summer 2010 collection is a combination of seamed and seamless swimwear, with careful attention to fit, while still being aesthetically pleasing.

So what are the swimwear trends for Summer 2010?

According to Dax, you should be on the lookout for animal and tribal prints, belted bikinis and, for the brave, the monokini (pictured above).

Colour-wise, says Dax, "You should look out for blacks and whites and various shades of nude."

If the thought of stripping down to your bathing suit makes those winter belly rolls quiver, fear not! Dax suggests that you "go for darker shades and stay away from prints," to give the illusion of being slimmer.

"The occasion should always dictate your choice," he adds. If you've been invited to a casual 'drinks by the pool' affair, you can use a sarong to cover up your least favourite bits.

For those of you who balk at the idea of forking out hundreds of rands for a new costume each summer, Dax's solution is to invest in a high quality swimsuit that will serve you season after season. Says Dax, "The classic black swimsuit is an evergreen must-have."
